Term 2 has kicked off with energy, excitement, and plenty of opportunities for our young people to get involved in hands-on learning and new experiences.
One of the standout programs this term has been our Saddle Club program, an equine therapy program run in partnership with the Youth Horse Whispering Program. This program has provided students with the chance to build confidence, develop trust, and strengthen emotional regulation through meaningful connections with horses. Young people have been learning the foundations of horse care, including grooming, leading, and understanding how to communicate effectively with their horse.
Our Flexi World Cup, has also been a huge success. With strong young person participation and plenty of enthusiasm on the soccer field, training sessions have quickly become a highlight of the week. The program has encouraged teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition, while giving young people the opportunity to build positive relationships and school connection through sport. The excitement is building as preparations for the Cup continue, and we cannot wait to see the competition unfold.
Our Drilling and Mining course is also well and truly underway, giving young people valuable exposure to industry pathways and practical skills for the future. Our first practical day at The J was a fantastic experience, where young people learnt how to safely work at heights and gained hands-on experience using an Elevated Work Platform (EWP).
It has been a strong and exciting start to Term 2, with young people stepping outside their comfort zones, building new skills, and making meaningful connections through each of these programs. We are looking forward to seeing what the rest of the term brings.
