At the end of Term 3, our school community came together for Flexi Fest, a vibrant celebration of our young people, our community and everything that makes Flexi such a special place to be.
The day was filled with music, creativity, culture, food, animals and plenty of opportunities for our young people to connect and celebrate together. Our talented young people took to the stage throughout the day, sharing their musical talents with the community. We were also excited to welcome a special guest performance from young people from Gympie Flexible School, who joined us for the celebrations and helped make the day even more memorable.
There was plenty of food to enjoy, including a huge spread, a delicious fried chicken food truck and slushies. Our young people also put their hospitality skills into action, making coffees for staff, young people and guests throughout the event.
Creativity was a big part of the celebrations, with arts and crafts activities and face painting taking place throughout the day. We were particularly privileged to welcome First Nations guest artist Nikita Newly, who worked with our young people through a mixed-media art activity, providing an opportunity to explore creativity, culture and connection.
A definite highlight for many was our very own Flexi petting zoo, where young people could get up close with goats, sheep, piglets, rabbits and more. The animals brought plenty of excitement, laughter and smiles to the day!
We were honoured to begin our celebrations with a Welcome to Country from Mack and Phil of Undumbi Culture, acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our school community gathers and celebrating the importance of culture and connection.
Flexi Fest was a wonderful reflection of our community — creative, inclusive, connected and full of young people bringing their own talents, personalities and energy to the day. We are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed to making the event such a success and grateful to all of our staff, young people, families, community partners, artists and performers who helped us celebrate Flexi and the community we have built together.
