As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we were honoured to welcome Kultya to our school community. The day began with a powerful Smoking Ceremony and traditional dance, led by Kultya, setting a respectful and reflective tone for the day.
Throughout the day, Kultya remained on campus to share their deep cultural knowledge with students and staff. They showcased a range of Aboriginal artefacts, offering hands-on learning experiences and storytelling that brought history and culture to life. As part of our ongoing cultural program, students also continued their work on crafting didgeridoos (Mundhus) under Kultya’s guidance.
The day concluded with a shared community feast, where students, staff, families, and local community members came together to celebrate, connect, and reflect on the importance of NAIDOC Week. It was a meaningful and memorable day that deepened our understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
